We intend to upgrade Scrumworks pro from 4.5.1 ( Build: 2010-11-09 15:31 r30288 ) to version 5 this week.
I notice that the latest revision is 5.1
A question;-
Should we upgrade directly to 5.1 ? or do we need to first upgrade to 5.0 ?
Is there any risk in upgrading from 4.5.1 to 5.1 directly ?
Thanks

1You can just go straight there. The ScrumWorks upgrade is built to run from any old version to the new version.
As years in support me have taught me I recommend you make sure you have a backup before upgrading however, never know when a rodent is going to pick that exact moment to chew through your power cables or a typhoon to hit.
ScrumWorks does set up a backup during the upgrade process but with backups you can never have enough redundancy. -

Thank you.
while I'm on this, can you also tell me;-
What is you current understanding of when a 5.2 might happen ?

1Last I heard they were aiming for a January release, I haven't talked with the product owner since the planning started in it however so I will have to check to see if that is still the plan. -

You can certainly upgrade from any previous version of Scrumworks Pro to the new 5.1 version. The key thing is to be sure to install using the same database version as you previously had, either Hypersonic or MySQL.
Also be sure to backup your database for safety before starting the upgrade. The database itself will be reformatted and transferred to the new version automatically as part of the upgrade.
There is one minor change from the previous versions to 5.1 that may effect you if you use a custom port setting with Scrumworks. For details o n that please take a look here: http://community.danube.com/danube/to... -
