sad I’m anxious

Unable to open product using basic web client using scrumworks basic.

Unable to access my project since a server restart. I am using the Basic web client with the Scrumworks Basic licence. I have tried with web client and not able to open as well.

I am able to login as administrator or as a regular user. Able to see the product list. When I click on a product, it gives a popup with error "com.danube.scrumbag.client.exception.ServerException: The session is closed"

There are no logs in the server.log file during this time other than

2010-03-30 18:47:19,403 INFO [com.danube.scrumbag.Controller] [User: administrator] command: command.product.ListProductStatus
2010-03-30 18:47:19,428 INFO [com.danube.scrumbag.Controller] [User: administrator] command: command.team.GetProperty
2010-03-30 18:47:21,411 INFO [com.danube.scrumbag.Controller] [User: administrator] command: command.product.ListProducts
2010-03-30 18:47:21,429 INFO [com.danube.scrumbag.Controller] [User: administrator] command: command.UpdateRegistration
2010-03-30 18:47:21,445 INFO [com.danube.scrumbag.Controller] [User: administrator] command: command.UpdateRegistration

After this the popup disappers and I am left with a blank screen.

This does not seem to be an issue with db corruption as I restored the backup and same issue. I tried adding a new product, it is the same issue.

In the boot.log there are these errors
grep -i failed boot.log
14:23:16,567 DEBUG [Server] Failed to create xmbean for: org.jboss.system.server.ServerInfo
14:23:16,593 DEBUG [Server] Failed to create xmbean for: org.jboss.system.ServiceController
14:23:19,545 DEBUG [DefaultManagedObjectFactoryMap] Failed to find factory for event: javax.management.Notification[source=jboss.system:service=ServiceController][type=org.jboss.system.ServiceMBean.create][message=]
14:23:19,546 DEBUG [DefaultManagedObjectFactoryMap] Failed to find factory for event: javax.management.Notification[source=jboss.system:service=ServiceController][type=org.jboss.system.ServiceMBean.create][message=]
14:23:19,546 DEBUG [DefaultManagedObjectFactoryMap] Failed to find factory for event: javax.management.Notification[source=jboss.system:service=ServiceController][type=org.jboss.system.ServiceMBean.create][message=]
14:23:19,549 DEBUG [DefaultManagedObjectFactoryMap] Failed to find factory for event: javax.management.Notification[source=jboss.system:service=ServiceController][type=org.jboss.system.ServiceMBean.create][message=]

I do not know for sure if these errors were happening earlier and still things worked fine or it has started now only.

Any thoughts on debugging this?

  • Hi Vrakmu,

I don't recognize any of those error messages, but I can offer some basic troubleshooting steps.

First off, try stopping and starting the ScrumWorks service again, it could be that something just stopped it from starting up properly.

After that I would make a backup of your data and just fully reinstall. Then restore your backup over the clean installation. The backup documentation can be found here: http://www.danube.com/docs/scrumworks...

For reference, the 2 files that consist of your database are scrumworks.script and scrumworks.properties. When the server is stopped copying those to a safe location is a manual backup. As long as those 2 files are safe your data should be safe. The restoration directions note the folder that they will be located in.

    indifferent
I copied the current version of the scrumworks.* files.

Reinstalled the product, made sure it works with the sample products. Then copied over the previously copied one and it works now.

Don't know what went wrong, but seems to be up again.

  • Could have been any number of things, I have seen similar problems caused by security software misidentifying files and removing them or people accidentally deleting the wrong thing.

I usually just suggest the reinstall as one of the first troubleshooting steps because it is so quick and easy to do. As opposed to spending a large amount of time trying to find the exact issue.
