Proxies and the desktop client

Is there a way to handle proxy issues re: desktop client (SWP is installed outside of the proxy)? Access to the webpage for the server is fine, but the DTClient can't connect.

  • Hi Derrek,

ScrumWorks currently does not support the use of proxies.

However, I have found that when this question arises this often helps: http://community.danube.com/danube/to...

  • I should add also that the previous answer is also based on some information from some email communication to our support department from Derrek related to Apache.

I want to mention that there is another issue with proxies that we see from time to time. Specifically, when trying to access the Desktop Client it will not open and display one of a number of different Proxy related error messages.

This can be caused by a Java setting. Occasionally Proxy settings in the browser will be automatically assigned to Java. You can fix this by entering the Java console. On Windows based systems this can be done by the clicking Start - Control Panel - Java- Network Settings

Once here you can adjust your Proxy settings, usually setting it to "Direct connection" resolves this issue. However it can vary from system to system.

As an aside, the person that was handling this for me noticed that when he was behind the proxy the desktop client didn't even attempt a connection.

he grabbed logs from both attempts (behind the proxy and not behind the proxy), so we're not entirely sure what was going on there.

though, the part about the java settings and the browser makes sense. even though both of us were behind the proxy, I could get to the login point where I would be told that a connection wasn't possible, while he couldn't even get that far.

I've made the feature request as per the email.
