If you choose to trust the content and hit run, does the issue repeat for you?

We have several users working with apples safari browser. This browser dont give you the opportunity to trust the certificate an run the software.

About the most I could offer then would be to suggest a workaround. The users currently working with Safari may need to try switching to Firefox to get ScrumWorks Basic up and running.

thanx for your effort.Unfortunatly this does not help. When accepting the certificate further problems occur. The GUI-Client responds with communication errors and does not connect any further. The web client wont let me log in as administrator. Strange! This instance of Scrumworks has been running for 2 years without any problems.
The general problem with the invalid certificate is not solved by using firefox. All browsers use the systems wide installed java-webstart. On a mac java-webstart does not allow to trust the certificate and run the software.
Is this only my problem or can be reproduced by other people?

Haven't seen any other reports of this no. The fact that it has been running for 2 years without any problems would lead me to suggest you try to find out if anything has changed recently that could have sparked the problem. Maybe something happened to the server installation? New network software/equipment maybe?

Beyond that there are some standard troubleshooting steps that fix the majority of the client side problems. Clearing the Java cache is the biggest one. Depending on the OS it can be done different ways. This covers doing it in Windows for example: http://community.danube.com/danube/to...

Sometimes updating Java, or reinstalling it can also be required. Again it can be OS dependent.

Worked fine for me. I was able to start it up and log in without issue. I would guess anyone having trouble connecting to it is probably having an issue with a proxy or network security. Might want to talk to your network administrator about it.

this was a good hint. All problems are related to MacOS 10.6 Snow Leopard. Any PC works fine. ThanXs a lot for your help.

It appears that the issue is related to migrating to 10.6 (Snow Leopard). It is because KeyChain thinks the certificates used by the Admin Console Java app are expired. As a workaround:

1. open KeyChain Access
2. select Show Expired Certificates from the View menu
3. locate the ScrumWorks certificates in the Certificates category
4. Select one, chose Get Info from the File menu
5. Click the drop-down arrow next to Trust
6. Change When using this certificate: to Always Trust
7. Close and repeat

This work around worked for me.

Why have a digital signature on the thing if you disable trust by explicitly overriding it?

The release of the Basic client is getting rather old - I am crossing my fingers for a 1.8.4 release with an updated certificate at least :-)

ScrumWorks 1.8.4 has just been released to address this issue.
