Linking PBIs to other PBIs

In many issue tracking tools it is possible to link items. It would be also nice if you could link PBIs in Scrumworks.

As a developer and ScrumWorks web-client user I want to see backlog items' dependencies or links to other backlog items.
As a developer and ScrumWorks web-client user I want to see the status of the linked backlog items without opening the linked backlog item.
As a ScrumWorks user I want to be able to link backlog items to other backlog items, because the backlog items can be dependent on each other.
As a ScrumWorks user I want to link backlog items in my product backlog to backlog items in other product backlogs.
As a ScrumWorks user I want to open the linked backlog items by one click.

I would also like to be able to link to specific backlog items from outside programs (i.e. via a URL)

Hi,

I also like the idea that you could copy the PBI key as link (preferably direct URL to PBI) and pass it as a reference to someone or paste it to some other application as a reference. Now you cannot copy the PBI key in desk top client at all.

Hi Milja,

There seem to be two ideas here:
1) Association of PBIs to one another in tool (dependencies)
2) Creating a web URL for a PBI that is linkable in other tools, email, etc.

We are currently building a revision of the web client which will include the ability to link to a particular PBI. So Evelyn's idea is under development.

The dependency idea is a good one but we have a lot of other things planned for this year and it will likely not make it.

I hope this helps to set expectations and I appreciate the feedback!

  Hi, Markus. Direct links to PBIs are available in version 5.0+. You must be an authenticated user to access the link. However we provide the web report system which lets you expose lists of PBIs without authentication.

Linking PBIs is a great idea. In my experience, when we have many complex tasks to complete, it is also useful to have a visual representation of these links. We manually generated a graph (fishbone) to depict these dependencies, and found it very useful. I would suggest the ability to graph out PBI dependencies.
