Is there a setting that I can change which defines when the burndown chart is updated? It seems that the sprint burndown chart is updated at same time each day.

  • Hi Milja,

The sprint burndown will be updated any time a change is made to a task. I would guess from your question however that we have a situation where the users are in a very different timezone from the server?

If that is the case, then unfortunately no, there is no setting to change the time of day the points on the sprint burndown are finalized. I can turn this question into an idea if you would like, just let me know.

There is definitely a time where the first point on the graph for the day is added - I guess before that time the chart is updated for the previous day and after that time its today's point that gets dynamically updated.

What time of day is it that the first point for the day gets added?

I'm not really sure it needs a feature request its just something interesting I noticed.

  • HI Craig,

It should just be at 12:01am Server Time.

Usually when we are dealing with a question regarding time the issue boils down to the server being set for a different time zone, or having the clock set to a time no one expected.

Hi Caleb. Is the "instant update" continued into version 5.0? I'm having some trouble with my sprint burndown. I created a sprint with dates a few days in the future. I then added some tasks to some backlog items and was thinking that I would see the hours show up on the burndown. However, i didn't realize that, because the sprint was in the future, they wouldn't show up. I adjusted the start date of the sprint to a few days in the past and then one task showed up in the burndown with it's total of 4 hours remaining. When I added other tasks, however, their hours did not show up. Is this because I adjusted the start date of the sprint?
    • Yep.

Try opening up the Sprint Detail View (double click on a sprint's red bar) and select Show Estimate History (little checkbox on the left). This gives you a day by day breakdown of task estimates, if you change them (which you can only do for today or past days in the sprint) you can see how they affect the Sprint Burndown.

Playing with that should give you a pretty good handle on how the report gathers and shows the data.
