sad I’m frustrated

Cannot connect to SW Basic host server.

I am unable to access the Scrumworks Basic URL remotely from a computer within the network. I get the 'cannot display the webpage error'.
URL used - http://servername:8080/scrumworks
I have checked that this port and connection works for other applications running on this server and port. But for Scrumworks Basic it does not. Is there something extra I have to do to access the Scrumworks URL from a remote machine in the network.
Thanks.

  • What other applications are using the same port? Port conflicts might prevent it from loading.

Also, be sure to specify the actual name of the server in the URL, not just 'servername', or else it will either look for a localhost or for nothing at all.
    • What I meant was I tested another application in a different time window (not when the port was taken). I made sure the service for this application was down when I tested scrumworks later. The other application I tested was Hudson - a continuous integration tool.

I have also tried changing the port for the server.xml in the jboss sar folder. That did not make any difference either. It works great locally but remotely(within network) it does not recognize the URL,

I did use the IP address as the server name not literally 'servername' off course.

Going back to my original question. If there something additional that needs to be done for accessing Scrumworks Basic url remotely from a machine in the network?

In the meanwhile I am checking to see if this is not a firewall related issue.
    • Okay. Here is an update.
It tested this in my home network, and it works remotely. So it means the issue is not with SW Basic, it is something to do with the firewall or security on my work network.
      Thanks Anyway.
